Years of Service
South Texas College distributes Years of Service awards recognizing five-year milestones of employment based on full-time hire date (without a break in service). Individuals are awarded after the Fiscal Year that they met the milestone has been completed. Employees who have previously met a milestone but have not received an award OR would like to inquire about their eligibility can reach out to HR_Trainings@southtexascollege.edu.

- Who is eligible to receive service awards?
The following employees are eligible for service recognition without a break in service:
- Full-time faculty (including full-time temporary/lecturers)
- Full-time staff (including full-time temporary)
- Full-time grant-funded staff
- What is the criteria for the service awards?
The criteria for the Years of Service awards is the following:
- Consecutive years of full-time employment count towards the years of service awards.Including full-time temporary employees, lecturers, and full-time grant-funded positions.
- A year of service is calculated from September 1st through August 31st of the current fiscal year.
- Years of service equates to TRS definition of 90 available work days from September 1st to August 31st of the current fiscal year.
- Employees receive recognition at each five (5) year milestone of service to the College.
- Can temporary agency personnel receive service recognition?
No, temporary agency personnel are employees of the temporary employment agency.
- Can part-time employees (adjunct, direct-wage, and work-study employees) receive service awards?
No. Service awards are presented to employees in recognition of consecutive full-time employment.
- Can my years of working part-time be included in the calculation for the number of years of service?
No. Service awards are presented to employees in recognition of consecutive full-time employment.
