South Texas College demonstrates its commitment to the professional development of our faculty and staff by offering various educational grants. These grants are designed to empower our educators to pursue further education, enabling them to expand their knowledge and expertise. We believe in investing in our faculty and staff growth, ensuring they have the financial support to enhance their education.
Institutional Grant for Employees
Eligibility
- The employee must be employed for at least 1 year before the program’s benefits will be granted.
- Upon meeting eligibility, a maximum of nine hours can be granted. The maximum number of hours listed are per semester consisting of three semesters- Fall, Spring, and Summer (I, II, III).
Eligibility for Competency Based Education (CBE) Bachelor Programs
- The employee must be employed for at least 1 year before the program’s benefits will be granted.
- Upon meeting eligibility requirements, a combined total of $3,400 may be granted for the Fall, Spring and Summer (I, II, III) Semester.
Deadline
Eligible employees are required to submit their Institutional Grant Application to the office of Human Resources (Benefits Team) for approval no later than five business days prior to the designated begin date for that particular semester.
Tuition Grant Application for Employees
Institutional Grant for Dependents
Eligibility
- The employee must be employed for at least 2 years before tuition grant for dependent benefits will be granted. Eligible dependents are defined as:
- Legal spouse;
- Dependent son or daughter, 25 years of age or younger, who reside with the employee.
- The Institutional tuition grant eligibility is based on the number of years of service without a break of employment. The maximum award granted will be on a fiscal year basis consisting of three semester Fall, Spring, and Summer (I,II,III).
- At 2 years 4 hours per semester
- At 4 years 8 hours per semester
- At 6 years 12 hours per semester
Eligibility for Competency Based Education (CBE) Bachelor Programs
- The Institutional tuition grant eligibility is based on the number of years of service without a break of employment. The maximum award granted will be on a fiscal year basis consisting of three semester Fall, Spring, and Summer (I, II, III).
- At 2 years $1700 award per fiscal year
- At 4 years $ 2550 award per fiscal year
- At 6 years $ 3400 award per fiscal year

Institutional Grant Application for Dependents
Tuition and Fee Reimbursement for Employees
Eligibility
- All benefit‐eligible full‐time faculty and staff who have been employed in a full‐time position for a minimum of 1 year are eligible to participate in taking courses at any regionally accredited Public College or University.
- Amount claimed is limited to $800 per fiscal year.
Deadline
The required application must be completed by the employee and approved by the employee’s supervisor, department account manager, Admissions Office and the Office of Human Resources no later than five business days prior to he designated date for that particular semester.
