Workers Compensation
South Texas College participates in the Texas Workers’ Compensation benefit program. Workers’ Compensation insurance is regulated by the State and all guidelines mandated by the Texas Department of Insurance. This insurance is for the sole purpose of a work-related injury or illness.
Eligibility
All full-time and part-time faculty/staff in active employment position.
Injured Employee’s Responsibilities
- Report it to the immediate supervisor and the Office of Human Resources.
- Supervisor will need to complete a Supervisor’s Investigative Report.
- Fill out a First Report of Injury Form.
- If there was a witness to the incident, witness can complete a Witness Statement.
- Contact a Benefits Specialist at Human Resources.
Employer’s Responsibility
- Submit the First Report of Injury Form to TASB to start a claim.
- Provide the injured employee with necessary paperwork to seek medical care along with the list of approved providers by Worker’s Comp Carrier. https://www.pswca.org/find-a-provider.html
South Texas College offers an early return to work program to its employees. All departments provide those employees in temporary work who are required to work under a medical restrictions and limitations due to the employee’s work-related injury.
